WZZM13
A Grand Rapids branch of the Starbucks Workers Union will protest today.

It is one of many protests taking place around the world to show solidarity with union activists who have been fired from Starbucks in recent months. One of those activists include Grand Rapids barista Cole Dorsey. Starbucks fired Dorsey on June 6th after the coffee chain learned of his activity in the Industrial Workers of the World Union. The firing came in the midst of unfair labor practice charges being investigated against the Starbucks in Grand Rapids.

Today's protest takes place at the Starbucks located at 2757 East Beltline. It begins at 4 p.m. this afternoon. Other places taking part in the protest include: Argentina, Chile, the British Isles, Italy, Japan, Norway, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, 4 cities in Spain, 6 cities in Germany. In the US: Phoenix, Philadelphia, Grand Rapids, Boston, Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles .
